During this challenging time people had to consider things like trading
for resources, crossing the river or heading down the trail to go to the
trading post for more supplies. They encountered many obstacles such as
the weather, rough terrain and lack of food. During this activity, I
want you to think like a pioneer going down the Oregon Trail. You’ll be
given a series of scenarios with choices A, B, C, or D, and you must
choose what you think you will need to do in order to survive on the
Oregon Trail.
You will start with 100 points and each decision that you make will
either add to or subtract from the 100 points you were given at the
start. Don’t worry about getting your math right, we will give you a
calculator. Also, use the worksheet in front of you to keep track of
your points!
